History of Belarusian Circus

Since August 1996 the Belarusian State Circus is managed by Tatsiana Nikolaevna Bondarchuk, the director and the art-adviser.In 1997 the Minsk State circus was renamed in the State show organization “Belarusian State circus”.

The peculiarities of the circus.

1. The first in the USSR permanent stone circus with 1666 sitting places, which was built after the Revolution of 1917.

2. The only circus in the USSR, which was evacuated from the territory occupied by the Germans.

3. The only circus in the world situated in the center of the capital of the state on the main street (thanks to Alexandrovskaya, the People’s Artist).

5. Among 66 permanent and 22 touring circuses of the USSR our circus was considered to be the most clean, cozy and comfortable for the artists and animals. The work in the circus was extremely honourable for all artists of the State circus of the USSR from Nikulin to the graduates from specialized circus schools. Such a high rate is also remained today.

At present the Belarusian circus has a staging program. At the first time in the history of the State Belarusian circus was created the First national group “Stars of Belarus”, the project author of which is T. Bondarchuk, and which is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from the fascist invaders.
“The State Belarusian circus» works in two directions:
- it organizes and realizes guest-performances of international circus programs in the arena of the State Belarusian circus;
- it organizes the tours of the first Belarusian group “Stars of Belarus” around the Far and the Near foreign countries.

Only in the last two years the citizen of Minsk and the guests of the capital of our Republic had got a chance to see the shows of international programs with the participation of the artists from Belarus, Russia, Poland, the Ukraine, Latvia, Hungary, Kenya, China, as well as the artists of Nikulin Big circus on the Tsvetnoj Boulevard, Moscow circus on the Vernadsky Avenue, the Warsaw Big circus, the Peking Golden circus.

ЗDuring this time the group “Stars of Belarus” and other items and special turns were touring around the Far and the Near foreign countries.

It is remarkable, that the State Belarusian circus is the only circus not only in Belarus, but also in the CIS-countries, which continues to organize charity performances for children-invalids, for children of the Association “The Chernobyl way”, for the veterans of the IIWW, military men-internationalists, students of the Suvorov specialized school, fix-term military men and military men of the Ministry of Emergency. During the tour about the Ukraine a chef performance for the citizen and children of Beslan and Vladikavkaz, who were on the recreation in Crimea, was given.

The State Belarusian circus foresees in its future plans the improvement and expansion of the international contacts, the cooperation with international collectives, the exchange of the circus programs as well as the development of the Belarusian collective, the creation of new programs and separate items by the adding of stunts. To hold with honor and dignity the brand “Stars of Belarus”.
